Abstract
In August 2018, Nusa Tenggara Barat experienced deflation about
0,10 percent, in other words Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreased
from 132,69 in July 2018 to 132,56 in August 2018. It was above the
national level which also experienced deflation about 0,05 percent.
Looking at the regional level, both Mataram and Bima city
experienced deflation which were 0,07 percent and 0,21 percent,
respectively.
Deflation was due to decreasing price index of two expenditure
groups which were transport, communication and financial services
about 1,79 percent and foodstuff about 0,04 percent. Meanwhile,
the other expenditure groups experienced increasing index as
follows: health about 0,42 percent; prepared food, beverages,
cigarette and tobacco about 0,35 percent; clothing about 0,27
percent; housing, water, electricity and fuel about 0,22 percent; and
education, recreation and sport about 0,01 percent;.
Inflation rate of Nusa Tenggara Barat in August 2018, based on
calendar year, was around 2,06 percent. It was higher than August
2017 which was about 1,60 percent. Meanwhile, inflation rate of
year on year in August 2018 documented at 3,42 percent, lower than
the inflation rate of year on year in August 2017 that was about 3,89
percent.
